Q&A Will concrete countertops stain? All of our products are sealed to make them water base and oil base stain resistant. Acidic liquids will etch our standard concrete mix. Damage to the stone, though, is what produces the beautiful patina concrete is loved for. If this is not desired our new Stainless Concrete is virtually stain/acid proof. Do concrete countertops ever crack?Hairline cracks can occur. J. Aaron guarantees that these cracks will never spread or become structural problems. How do you reinforce your concrete countertops? We use a few things to reinforce our countertops. Standard steel rebar along with fiberglass rods do the heavy work. Along with that we add fiber reinforcement into the concrete mix to ensure our products will maintain structural integrity throughout their life. Can the color vary? Yes it can. Many uncontrollable factors affect the final color of concrete. If an exact match is required please let us know ahead of time. How do I maintain my concrete countertop? The standard mix needs to be resealed every 6-12 months. This is a simple process and full instructions are available. We also recommend using Howard Feed-N-Wax once every 4-6 months to rejuvenate your countertops. Our Stainless Concrete needs no scheduled maintenance. Can hot pans be placed directly on a concrete countertop? It is best not to. How much of an overhang is possible? If we are aware of the overhang in advance we can use internal reinforcement to allow for up to 20" of overhang in most cases. Are custom colors available? Yes. We can use the Benjamin Moore paint codes to produce any one of their thousands of colors. What is the lead time? Our typical lead time for a concrete countertop is 4 weeks. In many cases our concrete sinks will be in stock and can ship within three business days. |
